GREGG HILL ART STUDIO

Greggory D. Hill

Greggory D. Hill creates digital art with a proprietary computer program and exhibits his work at GHill ART studio in Chagrin Falls. His work can generally be described as complex generative art. Hill's programming algorithms inject order into his process with loosely defined instructions for light, color theory, form, composition and blending. Within this artistic structure his code then allows the computer to randomly generate a vast diversity of formal outputs.

The combination of the artist's ordered system with this disordered randomness breathes an unusual life into his art that teeters on the edge between the human and the digital and poses questions about creativity in the digital world. From the nearly infinite permutations available Hill searches for those that fulfill his aesthetic vision, as if discovering a collection of found art emerging from his code.

His art collection is on exhibit at GHill ART studio, a working artist's studio and art gallery in Chagrin Falls, Ohio at 9 West Washington Street. Art studio hours can be found on Google Maps.

Entitling the finished work is performed by random selection from a dictionary of over 60,000 words and is a reminder of the unpredictable aspects of a process involving such a vast number of permutations.

The final work is a single edition giclée print on aluminum, archival canvas, or paper.
