COLOR FIELD: PAREIDOLIA

Color Field compositions that occasionally evolve into pareidolia.

Pareidolia: the tendency to perceive a specific, often meaningful image in a random or ambiguous visual pattern.

I came across this word after developing an algorithm for color field compositions (view the algorithmic base on Instagram).  The algorithm was founded upon a very simple arrangement of rectangles in either lateral or radial symmetry. Many, but not all, of the iterations elicited images of faces, rosettes, snowflakes, and animals... pareidolia.... In a straightforward way, this word is at the heart of my algorithmic process, which strives for beauty on the foundations of meaninglessness and randomness.
